ItineraryMay 24, Friday
Today is the day you board your flight to Iceland. We will book your flight for arrival together at Keflavik Airport. Iceland is only a 5-hour flight from the eastern United States.
After Viking World, we will travel to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It is a region in western Iceland known for its dramatic landscapes and bountiful attractions. So many and varied are the features of the Snæfellsnes peninsula that it is often called Iceland in Miniature. It holds both a volcano and a glacier, lava fields, craters, waterfalls, and black and white beaches. Caves, picturesque mountains, calm fishing hamlets, small villages and towns provide gorgeous views along the coastline. There are rugged rocks and frozen trolls jutting out from the Atlantic waves. History, folklore, and ghost stories provide insight into the Icelandic culture. Start looking for the Aurora at night!

May 30, Thursday
As we head back to Reykjavik, we will see Seljalandfoss, the waterfall that we can walk behind. We will also visit Urriðafoss and Kerið crater. Once in the Capital, we will check into our hotel in the heart of the city. May 31, Friday Tyffi will pick us up and take us on his Gourmet Tour in Reykjavik which culminates in a fabulous Icelandic meal at his home! He will tell us his own “saga”. Tyffi was a restaurant chef but the beauty of nature in Iceland made him leave the kitchen and found his tour company. You will get to know the food and life of the locals with this customized tour around the capital. This meal is not to be missed! The rest of the day is free. Be sure not to miss the city at night and share time with the locals. Reykjavik has many museums, activities, and of course, plenty of shopping. The City Card is available for discounts at many of the attractions, restaurants and shops, and gives you unlimited rides on the local city bus. We can also arrange a knitting shop-hop or a beer tasting tour! Depending on weather and season we may change the order of places visited. Here is a list of preferred hotels: Rjúkandi Hotel on the Snæfellsnes peninsula Hotel Glymur in the Whale fjord Hvalfjörður Stracta Hotel on the South Coast Hotel Hali in the South East Fransiskus hotel on the Snæfellsnes peninsula Hotel Húsafell in the northwest Hotel Anna on the South Coast Foss Hotel Glacier Lagoon in the South East |
